Our history


Basketball made its return to Hemel Hempstead in 2010, when a group of passionate fans re-established a National League team and made Hemel Sportspace their home court. Since then, Hemel Storm has grown into one of the UK’s most exciting and community-driven basketball clubs.

A Journey of Growth & Success

Fast-track to Division OneStorm quickly earned promotion in 2012 to Basketball England’s top-tier men’s competition.

  • Two National Patrons Cups and the 2018 National Cup

  • Winners of NBL Division 1 in the 2024/25 season

A strong, loyal fanbase
The atmosphere at the “StormDome” is unmatched. Visiting teams consistently praise the energy and support of the Hemel crowd.

A club with heart and vision
Run by a focused Management Team, formed in 2017, the team includes specialists in marketing, match night operations, finance, schools outreach, and programme development. Chairman Tony Humphrey, a longtime fan and marketing expert, leads the charge in securing sponsorships and streamlining operations.

Now, a new generation is writing the next chapter. With a talented new squad, familiar fan favourites, and a continued focus on community, Storm enters each season with big ambitions:
